We are looking to recruit term time Teaching Assistants on temporary, 1 year contracts to support named pupils on a 1:1 basis. The posts are for 30.75 hours per week (including 2 hour meetings on alternate Thursdays), 39 weeks per year (Term time plus 5 days INSET).
Experience of working in a PMLD/SLD setting is preferred. Candidates must be adept at working successully with children who display challenging behaviours. Ideally candidates will also already hold or be studying towards a relevant qualification such as Supporting Teaching and Learning or Support Work in Schools (eg; CACHE; NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning). Candidates must be able to demonstrate competency linked to National Occupational Standards, and must be qualified to at least GCSE Grade C or above in both English and Maths or equivalent Level 2 Qualification so as to undertake essential record keeping.
Foreland Fields School is highly committed to improving the life chances of our pupils and students and to the raising of standards throughout the school. Due to the high level of need of some pupils, responsibilities will include intimate personal care, feeding pupils where necessary (including by gastric tube with relevant training) and administration of medication (subject to training).
Foreland Fields School is a Day Special School for pupils with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs (PSCN), many of whom also have Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
We provide for 200+ pupils aged 2-19 in five departments, Nursery, Infants, Juniors (KS2) Secondary (KS3/4) and 6th Form. In addition, we have two fully staffed mainstream inclusion classes within Garlinge Primary School and Hartsdown Academy.
