We are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic and caring Part time Teaching Assistant who will be working with a child in year 6 providing 1:1 support in the classroom, implementing learning and behaviour programs set by our qualified teachers and behaviour specialist.

You will need to have broad experience of working with similar pupils in a mainstream setting and have the compassion to support and nurture all children.

Desirable qualifications, experience and qualities required by the successful applicant:

  • Level 3 certificate for Teaching Assistants qualification or similar
  • Experience of supporting SEN pupils
  • Be able to contribute to the management of pupil behavior and support pupils during learning activities
  • Be prepared to contribute to and attend regular meetings regarding progress and implementation of strategies as directed by outside agencies.
  • Able to use innovative strategies to have a positive impact on behaviour.
  • Work within a team liaising closely with the class teacher and Inclusion Manager to monitor progress and attainment. Capable and confident in delivering school interventions
  • Enjoys working with children and is able to establish excellent relationships
  • Hardworking and is able to work on their own initiative and manage time
  • Committed to the school, has positive views and is willing to contribute to school events
  • Willingness to increase hours if necessary to provide a lunchtime provision.

Salary in accordance with Kent Pay Scheme Grade KS3. Mondays to Fridays 8:50-12:30pm, (including lunchtime provision 1:30pm) Term time

We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest and sensitivity to children's individual needs All candidates will have a high level of education but a minimum of GCSE's in English and Maths. They will be good and effective communicators with children and adults, friendly and approachable and able to work on their own initiative.

St Matthew's High Brooms Church of England Primary School, is a two-form entry Church of England primary school in a semi-urban area of Tunbridge Wells and Southborough. We have an extensive site and large outdoor areas.

At present there are approximately 350 children on roll. The school serves the community of High Brooms, St John's and Southborough.
