Information about the school

We are incredibly proud of our wonderful rural school and all the pupils who embark on their journeys as part of our Wittersham family.

As a proud Church School, our Christian vision underpins our decisions and actions. As a result, the staff team and school community are inspired to ensure children feel valued, empowered and nurtured whilst developing a strong moral purpose which embodies our Chrisitian values of courage, compassion and cooperation.

Children at Wittersham are treated as individuals and encouraged to develop enquiring minds, a thirst for challenge and a ‘can do’ attitude. Staff and governors consistently strive for high standards and excellent progress with every child at the centre of what we do. Expectations for learning and behaviour are high and our extensive extracurricular and enrichment programme highlights our commitment to the individual. We aspire for our learning community to achieve high standards by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, opportunities and experiences to inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Ofsted judged the school to be ‘Good’ during its most recent inspection. The inspector described the children’s experience of being at this school: “This is a happy and welcoming school. Christian values and a strong sense of community lie at the heart of this village school. Staff have caring relationships with pupils and know their families well. Pupils respond positively to leaders’ high expectations. Pupils want to do well, and they learn to persevere and not give up. They thrive within this trusting and harmonious environment” (HMI January 2020).
