About the school:
Shorne is a one form entry village school of seven classes set in a residential close, backing onto farmland and houses in buildings opened in the 1970's. It is well thought of locally and has a reputation as a very friendly and welcoming community. In 2017 Shorne's KS2 SATS results made us the most improved school in Gravesham. The school has a very successful Parents Association which actively supports the school. We are a Church of England school and have close association with our Parish church, St Peter and St Paul, Shorne.
As an Academy, Shorne School is part of the Aletheia Anglican Academies Trust and as such we are committed to working within a community of like-minded schools where we can share each other's expertise. The Governors have therefore decided not to appoint a free-standing headteacher, but a Head of School who will work closely with a Trust Executive Headteacher, ably supported by other Trust appointed officers. The Executive Head, working with Shorne School's Local Governing Body, will retain ultimate responsibility for the strategic direction of the school, but the Head of School will be the principal educational professional at Shorne School and will be responsible for its day-to-day running. This is a model that is well-established across not only the UK, but in many other countries and provides continuity and support across the phases.
Visits to our school are warmly welcomed. For further details, or to arrange a visit please contact Miss Deborah Mansfield on 01474 822312 or email at headteacher@shorne.kent.sch.uk If you would like to speak to the Head of School about any aspect of this post, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Tara Hewett on 01474 822312 or email at misshewett@shorne.kent.sch.uk
Shorne Church of England Primary School is committed to safeguarding. Successful candidates will be asked to complete a DBS check. All appointments are subject to satisfactory DBS checks and references. Open references are not accepted.
