Advert

Due to increasing numbers, we are looking for an exceptional teacher to complete our enthusiastic and imaginative team at Smarden Primary school.  This could be a part-time / job share role for an NQT or early career teacher and could be either for a mixed Year 1/2 class or a class of 27 Year 3 pupils. This decision will be made in response to the needs of the school and following discussions with you regarding your strengths and personal professional development.

How would you like to begin your teaching career in an idyllic rural setting, rated good by Ofsted in 2017, offering the traditions of a rural village school with exceptional facilities?

The children here are impeccably behaved and despite being small in size, we are huge in ambition. We have beautiful grounds and are due to start a Forest school in September, which will be integrated into our inspiring curriculum.

Our staff are our most treasured resource and we strive to ensure that we nurture talent at all levels. We actively encourage teachers to engage in research informed practice and reflective thinking and as a member of the Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT), we not only work collaboratively across the school, but with other schools across the trust. In partnership with TKAT, we offer outstanding CPD and leadership opportunities that result in rapid career progression.

If you have a growth mindset, love teaching and have a passion for learning then our children need you! We are looking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join the fantastic team at our lovely school.

You will be: • Passionate about teaching • Able to create a vibrant and stimulating learning environment • Keen to deliver exciting, engaging lessons • Willing to work hard and contribute within a small and dedicated team

We offer: • An excellent, well-resourced working environment • Supportive colleagues, governors and community • A friendly, welcoming atmosphere • Coaching, support and mentoring • Enthusiastic and motivated pupils

We strongly encourage you to come and visit us during or after school hours to fully appreciate everything that the school has to offer. For more information or to make an appointment, please contact Mrs Caulfield on 01233 770316 or email: office@smarden-tkat.org

The post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service, Teaching Agency and satisfactory references.

Information about the school

Founded in 1716, Smarden original school building is at the heart of the beautiful village. The building at the front dates back to 1858. In 2014/2015, the school underwent extensive refurbishment and new building works. This was a wonderful opportunity for the school and was part of the Priority School Building Programme.

Four new, large classrooms were built to the rear of the old building and we are now able to deliver a 21st century learning environment within a new single-storey building, a new link corridor connecting the two buildings together and a new outdoor space with provision for games, social use and outdoor classrooms.

We also have a wooded area on site where we run Forest School, allowing the children to embrace the outdoors as an inspirational learning environment.

We offer the best learning environment for children ages 2-11. We endeavor to instill the best teaching methods for our articulate and intelligent pupils. We follow the Discover-Explore-Create curriculum, allowing them to be inquisitive and critical thinkers, always giving their best.

In September 2019, Smarden Nursery became part of Smarden Primary School and the wider TKAT family. Smarden Nursery has provided childcare for the village and local area for over 25 years in various formats. Merging with Smarden Primary School has helped to secure the long term future of the setting.

We aim for our children to develop lifelong skills, the ability to take responsibility for their own learning so that they can face future challenges with confidence. We pride ourselves on providing a happy, caring, supportive and positive learning atmosphere where each child can achieve success. We actively encourage partnership between parents and our local community. We live by our values; Ambition, Respect, Kindness.
