Upton Junior School is offering two exciting Apprenticeships in Supporting Teaching and Learning.  By the end of the apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant!

The ideal candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children and helping our pupils to strive for their best.

Your numeracy and literacy will be of a high enough standard to improve standards. You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude, good sense of humour and be friendly and approachable.

The ideal candidate will have….

  • An interest in and experience of working with children and/or young people.
  • An ability to communicate effectively with a range of people and take initiative.
  • A good standard of English and maths (FS Level 2 or above) or willingness to work towards.
  • Ability to relate well to children, young people and adults
  • Confident to work with groups of children and individuals
  • Self motivated to learn, organise self study and apply their learning to the workplace.
  • Willing to work as a team
  • Willing to reflect and evaluate their own practice.
  • Willing to undergo a compulsory DBS check for suitability for working with children and young people

Above all you need to like children, to want the very best for them and be prepared to put their needs first: children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child within a creative and innovative school setting.

This role is fixed term for 18 months, term time only for 30 hours per week.  The hourly rate for apprentices is £3.90 per hour (approximately £5031 per annum).
