All teachers want to make a difference; to offer children the best of opportunities to learn and to succeed, to grow as happy, accomplished sociable young people.

Come and make a difference at Wittersham!

We are seeking to appoint a KS1 teacher for September 2019, for 3 days a week, who has a proven track record of excellent practice. This will be for a mixed Year 1 & 2 class, job-sharing with another experienced teacher. You will be part of a forward thinking team who put children's learning and well-being at the heart of everything they do.  In our June 2016 'good' Ofsted report, 100% of parents said they would recommend the school to others and HMI reported, "staff are overwhelmingly positive about all aspects of the school. They are proud to belong to the school, feel well supported and share high expectations of learning, behaviour and attitudes. "

If you are passionate about children's learning, ambitious about developing outstanding practice and a team player with a sense of fun, then Wittersham is the school for you.

We want a teacher who is:

  • Enthusiastic, committed and has high expectations of pupils and themselves
  • Committed to raising standards of achievement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and keen to work as part of a motivated team
  • Able to be supportive of the school's Christian, caring ethos

We can offer you:

  • Happy, engaged and articulate children who are eager to learn and proud of their school
  • Good professional development opportunities both externally and with a Headteacher experienced in developing professionals through National Support work and mentoring
  • A friendly, creative and committed team of staff and a school with a happy, positive atmosphere
  • A supportive and enthusiastic Governing Body and parenting community
  • Being part of the forward thinking Tenterden Rural Alliance of schools which includes opportunities for further professional development, participation in national action research projects and links with schools nationwide through Whole Education
  • A caring, thriving and welcoming environment with strong ties to the community
  • A school in beautiful surroundings with a large sports pitch, swimming pool, reflection garden and nature area

Come and see for yourself or contact the Headteacher for an informal chat to find out more.  Visits are warmly encouraged and can be arranged by contacting the school office on 01797 270329.

Come and Make a Difference at Wittersham Church of England Primary School!

At Wittersham, we all want to make a difference – to offer children the best opportunities to learn and succeed and grow into happy, confident, and sociable young people.

We are seeking to appoint a Wrap Around Care Leader to run our Before and After School provision from September 2025. This is a permanent part-time position, offering the opportunity to shape a safe, nurturing and engaging wrap-around care environment for our pupils.

If you are passionate about creating enriching experiences outside of the standard school day, enjoy working as part of a small, collaborative team, and are committed to supporting children’s well-being and development, then Wittersham is the school for you.

About Us We are incredibly proud of our wonderful rural school and all the pupils who embark on their journeys as part of the Wittersham family. Our Christian vision guides our decisions and actions as a proud Church of England School. This vision inspires the entire staff team and school community to ensure that every child feels valued, empowered, and nurtured.

We aim to develop a strong moral purpose in our pupils, grounded in our school values of courage, compassion, and cooperation. Children are treated as individuals and encouraged to cultivate enquiring minds, a thirst for challenge, and a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Our staff and governors are committed to achieving high standards and excellent progress, with every child at the heart of all we do. Expectations for both learning and behaviour are high, and our nurturing ethos underpins all aspects of school life.

We are looking for someone who: Has experience working with children in a care or education setting

Brings enthusiasm, creativity and patience to their daily practice

Can confidently lead sessions and create a calm, safe and fun environment

Is able to plan and deliver a range of activities suitable for different ages

Demonstrates excellent organisation and communication skills

Will support our Christian ethos and the development of the whole child

Is confident managing daily routines such as registration, snack preparation, and handovers with families

We can offer: Happy, articulate, and engaged children who are proud of their school and enjoy wrap-around provision

Good opportunities for professional development and training

A friendly, creative, and committed team with a warm, positive atmosphere

A working environment where well-being and mental health are prioritised in all decision-making

Strong support from our Governing Body and a highly engaged parent community

A thriving school in the heart of a supportive village

A beautiful rural setting with a large sports field, swimming pool, reflection garden, and nature area

SIAMS Inspection – November 2024 Wittersham was judged ‘Outstanding’ in our 2017 Church inspection (SIAMS), and in our most recent inspection in November 2024, our strong Christian ethos and values were once again celebrated.

Key strengths included:

A deeply embedded Christian vision that enables the whole school community to flourish

A culture of dignity, respect, and inclusive nurture, particularly for pupils with SEND

Loving relationships and strong partnerships with the local church and clergy

Collective worship that spiritually nurtures the whole school community

Ofsted (2020) Our most recent Ofsted inspection judged the school to be ‘Good’, noting:

“This is a happy and welcoming school. Christian values and a strong sense of community lie at the heart of this village school... Pupils thrive within this trusting and harmonious environment.”
