Are you the special person we need for our pupils? We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Science Technician to work primarily with KS3/4. The successful candidate will be joining a lively, supportive team with many opportunities for continuing professional development.

You must be resourceful, positive, reliable, and have a working knowledge and interest in Science. Previous technician experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. The successful candidate will be required to provide a high level of technical assistance to teaching staff in the department in order to support the teaching, guidance and learning necessary to deliver the curriculum.  

You will share our belief that all pupils can achieve and be successful. You will have the ability to organise, inspire and motivate young people with special educational needs and emotional and mental health difficulties.

Hours of work are 30.83 per week, term time only (8.40am - 3.10pm) 39 weeks per year. The post is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.

The post will require the following skills:-

  • Good curriculum knowledge and an ability to plan creatively for pupils who require personalised learning
  • Good organisational skills to swiftly prepare equipment for science lessons
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Some experience and enthusiasm for working with pupils with behaviour and social communication difficulties and ASC
  • Commitment to undertake continuing professional development
  • Strong emotional resilience
  • Empathy and understanding towards young people
