St. Laurence Church of England Junior School has 221 pupils and is a two form entry junior school with a distinctive Christian character. St Laurence is sponsored by The Diocese of Canterbury and converted to an Academy just over four years ago. Since our conversion status, we have improved our end of Key Stage results significantly and are narrowing the gap between our SEN and Pupil Premium children compared to National Expectations. We have a committed, enthusiastic, nurturing staff and a dynamic leadership team that works closely with the Canterbury Diocese to continue our journey to becoming an outstanding school. The school was inspected in July 2018 and has been judged as a Good school in all areas.
We promote a values- led education which means that we provide a high level of pastoral care to ensure that all our children achieve well, no matter their level of deprivation or emotional needs. St Laurence provides a network of support for families that need it. It is praised in the local community for being a “caring school”.
We have worked successfully within the BRESIC and the RAP collaborations locally, which has enabled us to work with other schools to improve our professional practice and develop even better links within the community. There are also good links with our local church and our strong focus on Christian values is communicated well through the ethos of our school.
