We have a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant to join our busy vibrant school on the outskirts of Folkestone.

The post will involved working in mainstream classes to support either individual or groups of children.

Additionally leading play activities during the lunch break for children.

The successful candidate will:

-Be calm

-Like the company of children

-Have a good grounding in English and Maths

-Be able to role model good spoken English

-Be flexible and able to multi-task!

-Enjoy playing outdoor games

This post is suitable for a candidate considering a career in teaching in the future, but also suitable for who likes the company of children and wants to make a difference to their lives.

As the safety of our children is paramount in all we do, the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhance DBS disclosure.

Information about the school

Cheriton Primary School (480 on roll) is situated on the outskirts of Folkestone. The school serves a diverse community including an army barracks which is home to the 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles alongside children who come to our school from across the Folkestone district.

As a member of the co operative movement (The Vicus Trust) we hold the values of self help, self responsibility, democracy, equality & solidarity at the centre of all we do in school.

The staff at the school work hard to ensure that the children make great progress but also that the children always have something on the horizon to look forward to, they are committed to developing a passion for learning in every child who attends the school.

The school was inspected in February 2016 and judged to be a continuing good school with many outstanding aspects with the inspectors celebrating the diverse nature of the school, strong parent and community links and a wide and stimulating curriculum.

On a weekly basis it is common to have a large number of parent volunteers working in the school, adult learning classes on site, international tea afternoons, a Brownie pack and Community Choir using the school facilities as well as sports, arts and cultural activities for the children in school.

The school has been accredited with the Excellence in Literacy Award, the Quality in Extended Schools and The Parent Partnership Award.
