About the role:  Strood Academy is seeking to appoint Cleaners to ensure the designated areas of the academy premises are kept in a clean and hygienic condition. There are two positions available with different working patterns as follows;

• Position 1: 15 hours per week, Monday - Friday 3.30pm - 6.30pm
• Position 2: 22.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 10.30am - 3.00pm

Occasional overtime may also be offered for either position. Please state in your application which position you are applying for, or both if you can be flexible.    

Reporting to the Cleaning Supervisor, the post-holder will undertake the following duties;

• Cleaning, washing, catch mopping and sweeping
• Emptying of litter bins
• Polishing and dusting where appropriate
• Using powered equipment (e.g. Vacuum cleaners, polishers) where appropriate
• Undertake major cleaning during academy holidays as agreed with the Facilities Manager.

Please note;

• The designated areas may include toilets, washrooms and corridors.
• Duties will vary between term and closure periods.
• All duties must be carried out within the codes of practice of the academy’s Health and Safety Policy.

• No formal qualifications required
• Is flexible and prepared to take on a range of tasks
• Is able to communicate appropriately with young people and adults
• Is able to work as part of a team
• Is prepared to undergo further training if required.

Centralised behaviour system and detentions - simple for teachers to follow allowing disruptive-free classrooms. Our commitment to the development of all staff - CPD on Wednesday afternoons and the opportunity to collaborate with staff from other schools in the LAT. Also all staff at Strood receive regular coaching feedback through our on-line platform on-track. Strood academy is easily accessible by A2 and the high speed train can allow for travel into London in less than 30 minutes. We have a common sense approach to workload. All teachers are expected to feedback or live mark. We also work closely as a Trust allowing for centralised resources to be shared across our secondary schools.
