Advert

There are 3 computer rooms in the School.

All Computer Science lessons are located in one of them.

The School is lucky to have 3 well qualified and enthusiastic IT technicians, led by an IT Manager, and the department is well serviced by them.

At Key Stage 3, Computer Science is taught in form groups of 32 for 1 hour per fortnight, but the intention is to raise that to 2 hours per fortnight from September 2019.

At Key Stage 4, Edexcel Computer Science GCSE is offered and there is 1 class in each of Year 10 and Year 11 running. As for all option subjects, Computer Science runs on 5 one hour lessons per fortnight.

Computer Science A Level has never been offered at Key Stage 5 but we believe there is great potential for it to do so. However, there is a great deal of interest amongst students in the lower school for programming and computer science in general, and we are convinced that the right candidate would be able to create a thriving and energetic department with high numbers taking the subject at Advanced Level.

The successful candidate will be the sole member of the department but, if, as we believe, there are enough students interested in the A Level to make it viable in future, then there would be scope for the department to grow in the future.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about their subject and who has a talent for passing that on to young people. The person could be someone with years of experience or be someone in the first few years of their teaching career. The most important qualities we are looking for are energy, drive, passion and, of course, subject knowledge.
