The Governing Board at Wilmington Primary School are seeking to appoint a motivated and efficient Clerk.

The clerk will be accountable to the Governing Board and will work closely alongside the Chair of Governors and Headteacher.  We operate a commitee structure and meet 6 times a year.

The clerk is responsible for

  • Supporting the meetings of the full governing body and a small number of other meetings.  This will include negotiating agendas with the chairs and circulating, minute taking and providing timely acurate records of minutes
  • Providing up to date advice and support on governance where possible, or accessing and circulating this after meetings
  • Maintaining registers of attendance and records as needed

We are looking for some who is highly organised with a keen eye for detail, be informed about governance and be committed to their futher training as a clerk.  The full governing board meetings take place at Wilmington Primary School and usually begin at 6.00pm approximately for two hours.  There are six meetings per year. From September there will also be committee meetings in addition.

Ideally we are looking for someone with previous clerking experience but this is not essential.  We are a friendly governing board and have a supportive school community.

Information about the school

We are a one form entry primary school at the centre of Wilmington village. The school is very welcoming with motivated and well behaved children, an enthusiastic and friendly staff team, dedicated and supportive governors and many willing parents who give time and energy to provide financial, social and academic enrichment across the curriculum. The building has many break out spaces and a large tree lined, landscaped field. The school is a stand-alone academy with a spacious hall, 30 computer station ICT suite and a creative room to help drive our belief in providing a stimulating creative curriculum linking English and maths across the wide range of subject themes. The Ofsted inspection of June 2015 was graded good. A good staff work-life balance is a school priority.
