Becoming a Reception Class Teaching Assistant gives you a fantastic opportunity to make a difference to the early experience of children at school. We are seeking a part-time teaching assistant who can demonstrate the expertise and skills needed to help promote the personal development of our youngest learners here at Saltwood.

 We are looking for someone who:

  • Will support children's learning in and out of the classroom both individually and in groups.
  • Understands the value of child initiated activites and knows when and how to get involved to promote learning.
  • Knows that understanding a child's needs is the best way to help them make the progress they are capable of.
  • Enjoys working both in the classroom and outdoors, in all weathers!
  • Has the ability to make good relationships with children, colleagues and parents.
  • Will lead interventions for individuals and groups with confidence and initiative.
  • Is confident to work independently.
  • Is efficient, flexible and reliable.
  • Is able to work as a positive player in our friendly and highly experienced EYFS team.
  • Has a willingness to support the school's Christian ethos and contribute to the wider life of the school.

The vacancy is for 23  hours per week, over 5 mornings and 3 afternoons. Previous successful experience as a teaching assistant in the EYFS would be a distinct advantage.

The relevant NVQ2/3 or equivalent is expected and GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above is essential.

The position will commence as soon as possible after a successful interview.

Saltwood Play and Learning Centre is a registered charity with a team of up to 15 staff operating from the grounds of Saltwood School and offering childcare for nursery and school age children during term time.
