We have a vacancy for a Leader of Learning within our Key Stage 2 department. The successful candidate will become part of the Foreland Fields School Leadership Team.  

This is the perfect opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative classroom practitioner. Successful candidates will have either previous management experience or will be ready to make a move into leadership. They will contribute to the improvement and development of learning within the Junior department, and play a major role in shaping the future of our school.

Our ideal candidate will be a dynamic teacher with proven leadership and interpersonal skills, who aspires to excellence whilst also relishing a challenge. This post has a teaching commitment of three days a week. In addition to weekly PPA time the post holder will receive a further day and a half ‘non-contact' time to undertake Head of Departmental responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • be seeking an exciting new challenge in their career
  • be someone who wishes to join a hardworking and dedicated staff team
  • be a committed and enthusiastic teacher with experience of teaching pupils with high levels of learning difficulty in a special school setting
  • have knowledge and experience of teaching students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • have exceptional interpersonal skills and experience of managing people and / or projects
  • be familiar with, or have experience of, multi-disciplinary working across a range of statutory and voluntary agencies
  • have had some experience of strategic planning and decision making

Information about the school

Foreland Fields School is a Day Special School for pupils with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs (PSCN), many of whom also have Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

We provide for 200+ pupils aged 3-19 in five departments, Nursery, Infants, Juniors (KS2) Secondary (KS3) and KS4/6th Form. In addition, we have satellite classes at Garlinge Primary School, Hartsdown Academy and East Kent College.

Teaching Assistants working hours are from 8.30am until 3pm, apart from Thursdays where the finish time is 2.45pm on alternate weeks and 4.45pm on other weeks to accommodate essential training.
