About the role:

Job Title:      Science Technician                     Start date:     September 2018

Reports to:  Line Manager (Head of Biology)    Team:            Science

 

Salary:  Kent Range 5 (£18,059 to £19,863) pro-rata (Actual salary £12,355 to £13,590)

 

Hours:                          5 days per week; 30 hours per week

                                    Daily hours to be agreed at interview

Term-time only (to include 5 Staff Development Days).

 

The Post Holder will carry out the duties of a Science Technician as set out in the Pay and Conditions document and any amendments in future years contained within future Pay and Conditions documents.  This includes any duties as may reasonably be directed by the Headteacher.

Purpose

Support staff at Borden make a strong contribution to students’ learning and achievement; our technicians provide support to teachers to enable them to make even more effective use of their time, professional knowledge, skills and understanding.

 

Technicians contribute to students’ learning and will have a significant impact on their achievement, by enabling the delivery of quality lessons within a safe environment.

  • To provide practical preparation support within a curriculum area to benefit students learning and teacher efficiency.
  • To keep abreast of developments in key areas, to think creatively and constructively to ensure that the job is done in the most effective and time efficient way.
  • To review and develop own professional practice so as to further develop the work of the department in the preparation of practical lessons.
