Are you looking to work within an exciting, creative inclusive and enthusiastic team? Do you want to make a difference to children's education?

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teaching Assistant to work within key stage 2,  working to support an individual pupil with additional learning needs.  The successful candidate will split time between supporting as a class TA and an individual on a 1:1 basis. They will have a good knowledge of a wide range of strategies to support learners with additional needs including Autistic Spectrum Condition, dyslexia, ADHD and social and emotional difficulties.

This post is for a fixed term (12 months) to begin as soon as possible.

The successful applicant will have proven ability to work on their own initiative and will demonstrate a commitment to ensuring all children make outstanding progress in their learning and have a great start to their primary education.

The post is 30 hours a week – term time only

Applications are invited from individuals who have:

  • Relevant and recent experience of working in a school, preferably in KS2
  • At least NVQ2
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at grade C+
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience working in 1:1 role to support a child with additional needs
  • Ability and confidence to work with a range of children and confidently manage behaviour
  • An ability to communicate, work as part of a successful team, take on board advice, use your initiative and meet deadlines
  • A great sense of humour!

Information about the school

Bishops Down Primary and Nursery School is an inclusive, non-denominational school working in partnership with the Tunbridge Wells Primary Schools Collaborative Trust. The school was built in 1967 and is situated on the western edge of Tunbridge Wells in a leafy and pleasant residential area.

The school site is beautiful, elevated and fringed with green playing fields and woods. A fragrant quiet garden, pond and wooden structures in the grounds offer opportunities for happy playtimes.

We have just under 230 pupils in the primary and nursery classes. We also have a designation for children with physical disabilities and complex medical needs who are all included in mainstream.

We run Wrap Around Care at the beginning of the day and after school for our school and nursery children and during the holidays we run a Holiday Club for all children in the community.
