We are currently seeking a commited and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our collaborative team of professionals supporting the learning and development of our pupils.

As a teaching assistant at Fordcombe, you will support academic progress and the personal growth of the child or children you work with. You will be building confidence and independence as well as their knowledge and skills. This may require supporting children to become independent in personal care and life skills beyond the classroom door. Having experience of developing speech and language will be an advantage.

You will need to be able to thrive in a collaborative team, believe in the potential of every child, and want to support our children to discover who they are and explore who they want to become.

We encourage all potential candidates to look at our website for more information about our school and our community.  If you share our passion for providing excellence in education, inspiring young people and delivering a transformative education to every child, we would love to hear from you.

This is a temporary post, linked to funding, with an end date of July 2027.

Information about the school

Fordcombe Church of England Primary School is a half-form entry village school set in the beautiful Kent countryside near Tunbridge Wells, where our Christian vision, "inspiring every child to shine in God's light", shapes everything we do.

Our school is at the centre of the village, both in location and history. Our characterful Victorian building houses our school hall, whilst purpose-built classrooms and a dedicated library space provide calm learning spaces in which our pupils can excel.

Our Christian vision, shapes everything we do. Academic excellence matters deeply here. We share high expectations with staff, parents, carers and pupils working collaboratively to ensure that every child achieves well. But our school is more than just academic attainment. We are equally committed to something broader; helping children to discover their identity, explore their aspirations and develop values that will guide their lives well beyond their time at our school.

Our SIAMS inspection described us as "a small, welcoming school full of joy where people flourish," where relationships between staff and pupils are exceptionally strong. We are a close-knit team that values each member's wellbeing and professional growth equally. Staff describe working here as being part of a supportive family where everyone is genuinely known and valued.

Academic excellence matters deeply here. We share high expectations with staff, parents, and pupils, working collaboratively to ensure every child achieves well. But we're equally committed to something broader: helping children discover their identity, explore their aspirations, and develop the values that will guide their lives. As a staff member at Fordcombe, you'll be supporting both academic progress and the personal growth that shapes confident, capable young people ready for their next steps.

What we are looking for: Adults who thrive in collaborative environments, value evidence-informed practice, and believe that primary education is about more than attainment; it is where children discover who they are, explore who they want to become, and begin to understand how they want to live their lives.

If this sounds like the right environment for your next career step, we would love to hear from you.
