Learning Opportunities is a small independent special school catering for students with wide ranging needs. We follow a full range of curriculum subjects alongside numerous opportunities for learning outside the classroom.

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Therapeutic Lead who believes that relationships, wellbeing and trauma informed practice are the foundation of positive outcomes for young people.

This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to further shape the therapeutic practice across the school creating an environment where every young person has the opportunity to build resilience, develop positive relationships and prepare successfully for their next steps, by championing a therapeutic and trauma informed approach, ensuring that that practices are embedded within the wider educational environment.

The successful applicant will provide strategic and operational leadership for the school's therapeutic provision, ensuring that therapy services effectively support pupils with complex SEND. They will oversee the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of therapeutic interventions, working collaboratively with education staff, families and external agencies to promote positive outcomes for all pupils.

This is more than a leadership role, it is an opportunity to make a lasting difference. Whether supporting pupils through individual therapeutic work, developing whole school initiatives, or helping colleagues understand the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences, your expertise will help shape the future of our provision.

If you have endless energy and are seeking a new challenge where no two days are the same then we would love to hear from you. Visits to the school are strongly encouraged.

Information about the school

Learning Opportunities is a small independent specialist school for students with a wide range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH), autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and moderate learning difficulties. We are registered to provide education for 36 students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP), aged 10 to 16 years of age (Key Stages 2,3,4). All students have, for a variety of reasons, found it difficult to achieve their full potential in other settings.

Our dedicated staff team, who have a range of expertise, are passionate about providing the best possible opportunities and outcomes for all of our students.

Many of our visitors comment on the positive ethos of the school – calm, focused and happy, where appropriate and positive relationships between staff and students are clearly evident.
