Information about the school

At St. George's Church of England Primary School we value each pupil as an individual and ensure that they reach their full potential by Letting Their Light Shine (Matthew 5:16) through our Christian Values of Respect, Honesty, Courage, Kindness, Forgiveness and Hope. By Bringing Faith and Education Together; we aspire for all our children to become confident, secure, caring individuals who achieve personal success and develop a love of learning. They are supported to develop morally, spiritually, socially, culturally and academically.

We are very proud of our warm and welcoming school with its friendly, caring atmosphere; enthusiastic children; experienced and dedicated staff and supportive parents and governors. We have high expectations of the children's achievements and behaviour and the children have high expectations of themselves.

The school does extremely well in providing support and encouragement for our most vulnerable children. Children feel safe and well cared for and are positive and happy to be here. We are lucky to have extensive grounds allowing opportunities for creative and engaging lessons to be planned.

In June 2026 our SIAMS Inspection highlights key strengths: * The Christian vision underpins strategic decision-making throughout the life of the school. *Pupils and adults flourish within a caring and aspirational community. *An exceptionally strong culture of inclusion removes barriers to learning and wellbeing. *Collective worship reflects the vision powerfully. Through worship, pupils develop respect, compassion, belonging and confidence. *The vision inspires pupils to serve others through charitable action, environmental stewardship and leadership opportunities. Pupils are agents of positive change. *Religious education (RE) benefits from strong leadership and a carefully sequenced curriculum. Pupils develop an effective understanding of different faiths and beliefs, alongside curiosity and critical thinking.

In December 2022 Ofsted described us as a Good school in all areas; where staff feel motivated and valued. They love working in the school and speak highly of the support and professional development leaders provide. Parents and carers also greatly value the school. The comment of one parent that ‘My child is very fortunate to be part of this wonderful school,’ was typical of the views of many parents who submitted comments during the inspection survey.

St George's (VC) CE Primary school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
