Could you be the person who helps our youngest learners take their first joyful steps into school life?

Bodsham CEP School are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant (KS1 & Reception) to join our wonderful team at our beautiful rural church school.

This is a truly rewarding opportunity to work closely with children in their earliest stages of education, supporting them in Reception and Key Stage 1 as they begin to develop confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. Working alongside class teachers, you will help create a nurturing, engaging, and stimulating environment where every child feels safe, valued, and excited to learn.

Our school is a very special place, set within stunning countryside surroundings and rooted in a strong church school ethos. We believe that every child is uniquely created, deeply valued, and capable of flourishing. Our early years and KS1 provision reflects this belief, with a focus on care, curiosity, play, and purposeful learning.

You will join a friendly, supportive, and committed staff team who work closely together to ensure that every child has the very best start to their school journey. We pride ourselves on our warm relationships, our inclusive approach, and our shared commitment to nurturing both academic progress and personal development.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a caring, patient, and positive approach, especially with younger children
  • Has a flexible and adaptable approach to supporting children
  • Enjoys supporting early learning through play, exploration, and structured activities
  • Builds strong, nurturing relationships with children in Reception and KS1
  • Can support phonics, early reading, and basic numeracy development
  • Works well as part of a collaborative and supportive team
  • Shares our Christian values and commitment to nurturing every child’s potential

Experience in Early Years or KS1 would be welcomed, but above all we are looking for someone with the right warmth, enthusiasm, and dedication to help young children thrive.

If you are excited by the idea of helping children take their very first steps in education in a caring and inspiring environment, we would love to hear from you.

We are committed to safeguarding the children in our care and expect all staff to share this commitment by promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for every pupil.

Come and join our beautiful church school family, where the youngest children are gently guided, deeply cared for, and joyfully encouraged to grow.

Information about the school

Bodsham Church of England Primary School is a small and welcoming village school set in the heart of the beautiful Kent countryside. Federated with Saltwood Church of England Primary School, we offer the warmth and close community feel of a small school alongside the professional collaboration and development opportunities of a larger federation.

With approximately 70 pupils on roll, children are taught in four classes, including a dedicated Early Years class and mixed-age classes from Year 1 to Year 6. Our small class sizes allow staff to know every child as an individual and nurture each pupil to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

Our Christian vision and ethos are central to school life and underpin the caring, inclusive and supportive relationships across our community. We are proud of the strong partnerships we have with parents, carers and the local community. Our recent SIAMS inspection recognised that:

“The Christian vision is deeply embedded and clearly lived across the school community… creating a strong sense of belonging where pupils and adults flourish.”

Children at Bodsham benefit from a rich, varied and engaging curriculum, enhanced by our extensive grounds and regular educational visits using the school minibus to explore the local area and beyond. Pupils are enthusiastic learners who enjoy school, behave exceptionally well and are eager to participate fully in school life.

Our June 2022 Ofsted inspection recognised the school’s strengths, including Outstanding judgements in Early Years, Behaviour and Personal Development.

The number of pupils receiving free school meals and those on the SEND register are below the national average, allowing staff to focus on delivering high-quality teaching alongside meaningful enrichment opportunities.

As part of our federation, all staff benefit from:

Shared professional development and training opportunities Collaborative planning and moderation across both schools Supportive partnerships with experienced colleagues Access to wider resources and expertise Opportunities to develop leadership skills and subject specialisms

Bodsham is a school where children and adults are known, valued and encouraged to flourish within a caring and ambitious community.
