St George's Church of England Foundation School is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (VI) to join our friendly and supportive staff team. Working closely with class teachers, Specialist Teachers for VI, and external professionals, you’ll provide direct support to pupils with vision impairment, helping them to access learning and participate fully in school life.

Hours: 31.25 hours per week on the following working pattern: Monday and Tuesday 8.30am – 3.50pm; Wednesday and Thursday 8.30am - 3.00pm and Friday 8.30am – 2.35pm

Please note that this position would be a fixed term contract for the duration that the pupils you support are educated at St George's.

What you’ll do:

  • Adapt curriculum materials into accessible formats (Braille, tactile diagrams, large print, digital).
  • Support the use of assistive technology and resolve straightforward technical issues.
  • Reinforce teaching and encourage pupils’ independence, organisation, mobility, and self-advocacy.
  • Contribute to ILPs, reviews, and work collaboratively with staff and external professionals.

Experience of working with children or young people is essential, and experience supporting pupils with vision impairment is desirable. A willingness to undertake specialist training is required if relevant qualifications are not currently held.
