We are seeking an inspiring and committed SEN Learning Support & Inclusion Practitioner, with a particular interest in supporting those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The inclusion of all children will be at the heart of your work with their individual needs being of utmost importance in your role.

You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child, the barriers they may face and the range of interventions a child may need. You will be directed by the SENDCO to support with the delivery of interventions and assessments of the children.

This role may include some support within classrooms as directed by your line manager.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is experienced at making positive relationships with children
  • Has an understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Provides a model of excellence in terms of role modelling
  • Is a reflective practitioner with a “can do” approach
  • Has the ability to support all children to explore and reach their full potential and become well rounded, well balanced and confident people
  • Are committed to working as part of a dynamic team of professionals both in and out of the classroom

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be passionate, sharing a commitment to support children
  • Ideally have some knowledge of the use of nurturing approaches in schools
  • Have a calm, patient, empathetic and encouraging manner, with an ability to make learning fun
  • Have the ability to be self-motivated and manage time effectively in order to maximise their time supporting children
  • Be flexible and willing to support children in a variety of situations
  • Understand the most effective way in which to support learning for a given task
  • Understand the needs of pupil/s with whom working
  • Be flexible and adaptive to ensure the needs of the children are met at the right time for them
  • Be resilient when faced with challenging behaviours
  • Have a great sense of humour
