We are seeking a teaching assistant to join our wonderful school. The role will be four mornings per week (a total of 16 hours) and is likely to be in a Key Stage 2 class.

Saltwood CEP is a great place to work, with happy and well behaved children, friendly and experienced colleagues and a well established and supportive local community.

When shortlisting for our new team member we will be looking for evidence that you:

  • Can support children's learning in and out of the classroom both individually and in groups.
  • Have a natural ability to make good relationships with children, colleagues and parents.
  • Can lead interventions for individuals and groups with confidence and initiative.
  • Are able to work independently, particularly in the teaching of phonics and maths to small groups of children
  • Are efficient, flexible and reliable.
  • Are able to work as a positive team player with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Have a willingness to support the school's Christian ethos and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Previous successful experience as a teaching assistant would be an advantage but is not essential. A relevant NVQ2/3 or equivalent is expected (or the willingness to undertake such training) and GCSE Maths and English Grade C (Grade 4 since 2017) or above is essential.

You will be involved in general class teaching assistant duties as well as implementing intervention programmes to support those children who may need additional support. Please read the Job Description for further details on the role.

Please note the pay is Kent Scheme A, which equates to £26,168 full-time equivalent (FTE) meaning it will  be £9,653 pro-rata, for 16 hours per week, term-time only.

Visits to our exciting and friendly school are recommended.  Please contact the office to arrange a tour.
