Have you ever considered becoming a school governor?

Would you like to help shape the future of the next generation?

Do you want to make a difference and acquire new skills at the same time?

Do you have skills and attributes that would help us take our school from strength to strength?

Are you willing to support, challenge and ask questions?

Do you want to give something back to your community?

If the answer to any of these questions is 'yes' we would love to hear from you.

Being a school governor is an substantive but extremely rewarding role that allows you to network and develop new skllls, whilst supporting the development of our children and making a difference to their lives.

Full training and support is given to all governors and we would welcome you joining our Governing Board.

Please contact our Headteacher, Clare Sellwood, for an informal chat or visit to the school.

Information about the school

Priory Infant School is a welcoming two-form entry school located in the heart of the seaside town of Ramsgate. Established 30 years ago, the school benefits from six spacious classrooms, alongside a well-equipped extension that provides additional facilities for SEND support and small-group teaching.

We are fortunate to have extensive outdoor spaces that enrich our pupils’ learning experiences, including a dedicated wildlife area with a pond.

We are proud to embrace the Thrive Approach, using it to support the emotional and social development of all our children. This underpins our core ethos: that every child should feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. Strong partnerships with parents and carers are central to this work and play a vital role in our school community.

Our dedicated staff team creates a nurturing environment where children grow as independent, resilient, and creative learners. We aim for every child to become a confident reader, a responsible citizen, and to develop a lifelong love of learning.

We are committed to delivering a broad and engaging curriculum, where success is celebrated and children are inspired by experiences that go beyond the National Curriculum. Our aim is for every child at Priory to be happy, enthusiastic, and given the very best start to their school journey.

The school serves a mixed catchment area, resulting in a richly diverse cohort. Approximately 20% of our pupils receive SEND support during their time with us, and around 50% are eligible for Pupil Premium funding.

During our most recent visit from HMI in June 2023, it was noted that, “Pupils are happy to come to this friendly school where everyone is made to feel welcome and included.” We encourage you to read our full Ofsted report, available on our school website.

If you are ready to embrace new challenges and are undeterred by hard work, we would be delighted to hear from you. Priory is a small school with a big heart, and the warmth of our community is something we are incredibly proud of. We warmly invite you to come and experience it for yourself.
