Thistle Hill Academy is seeking a dynamic, dedicated Deputy Headteacher to join our leadership team and support our vision of transforming education through personalised, innovative, and inclusive learning. The Stour Academy Trust currently leads nine primary academies across Kent, each committed to nurturing curious, confident learners prepared for the challenges of the 21st century. 

 

The Role 

As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in driving school improvement, supporting the Headteacher in strategic leadership, and ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, and pupil wellbeing. You will champion our values of collaboration, inclusivity, ambition, innovation, and nurture, fostering a positive and enriching environment for pupils and staff alike. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and sustain high-quality teaching and learning across the school, ensuring a broad and inclusive curriculum. 
  • Support the Headteacher in the day-to-day management and strategic development of the school. 
  • Promote a strong culture of safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour. 
  • Manage staff performance, professional development, and deployment effectively. 
  • Oversee resource management, including budget planning and utilisation. 
  • Collaborate with external agencies to support pupils’ wider needs. 
  • Uphold and promote the school’s vision and values throughout the community. 

What We’re Looking For 

  • Qualified teacher with substantial leadership experience in a primary school setting. 
  • Proven track record of improving pupil outcomes and leading curriculum development. 
  • Strong understanding of the OFSTED framework and statutory safeguarding requirements. 
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and partners. 
  • Strategic thinker with sound organisational and resource management skills. 
  • Committed to personal and professional development and the development of others. 
  • Passionate about equity, inclusion, and nurturing every child’s potential.
