School Business Manager
Ellington Infant School

Ellington Infant School is seeking to appoint an experienced, organised, and proactive School Business Manager to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of our school.

We are looking for a motivated individual who can lead on all aspects of the school’s financial management and operational services, ensuring strong systems, compliance, and value for money. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher to support the strategic and day-to-day management of the school.

37 hours per week/ 41 weeks a year

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all aspects of school finance, including budgeting, monitoring, forecasting, and invoicing

  • Overseeing income and expenditure, including payments related to school trips and events

  • Maintaining the school’s asset register and supporting procurement processes

  • Leading on health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and statutory checks

  • Line managing the Site Manager and cleaning staff to ensure the school environment is safe, clean, and well maintained

  • Organising and coordinating school trips, including bookings, payments, and liaison with external providers

  • Supporting the planning and organisation of school events and fundraising activities, including events such as the Christmas Fair and other community events

  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and school policies

  • Supporting the efficient day-to-day operational management of the school

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong financial management experience

  • Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail

  • Has experience of line managing staff

  • Has knowledge of health and safety responsibilities

  • Can manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure

  • Has excellent communication and IT skills

  • Ideally has experience working within a school or educational setting
