We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Deputy Headteacher with a strong record of senior leadership, who is innovative, ambitious and committed to supporting the leadership of our happy, creative Church school.

About the Role
The Deputy Headteacher will provide strategic and operational leadership for teaching, learning and assessment, playing a key role in sustaining and developing our curriculum. You will drive school improvement, lead priorities within the school’s self‑evaluation and improvement plan, and ensure high standards remain central to all we do.

You will model excellent classroom practice, develop staff through coaching and collaboration, and ensure systems, expectations and pedagogy are consistently embedded. A strong understanding of safeguarding is essential, and the role includes Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibilities.

Inclusion is at the heart of our ethos. We seek a leader who is experienced, knowledgeable and passionate about inclusive practice, early intervention and removing barriers to learning.

This role suits an experienced Deputy Headteacher or an ambitious Assistant Headteacher ready for progression. You will help strengthen key phases of the school and contribute to developing our positive, ambitious culture where every child can flourish.

We are looking for someone who:
• Is an exceptional classroom practitioner with experience accelerating pupil progress.
• Has a proven record of strategic leadership and whole‑school improvement.
• Demonstrates reflective, aspirational and innovative leadership.
• Can inspire and motivate others to achieve high standards.
• Has experience leading curriculum, teaching, learning, assessment and attendance.
• Is committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Builds strong partnerships with parents, governors and the community.
• Is sympathetic to the ethos of our Church school.
• Values academic success alongside wellbeing, creativity and social development

We Offer:
• A caring, inclusive and supportive ethos.
• A vibrant, well‑resourced learning environment.
• Enthusiastic children with positive attitudes.
• A dedicated, hardworking staff team.
• Supportive parents, governors and local community.
• Excellent opportunities for professional development.
• A school committed to continuous improvement and rich opportunities for leadership growth.

Visits are strongly encouraged. Contact Mrs Garner at office@southborough.kent.sch.uk.
Closing date: Thursday 30th April at 3 p.m.
Interviews: Friday 15th May.

Information about the school

About our school.

Our School ethos is Giving Inspiring Flourishing Together. We encourage, nurture and respect each other as we grow in our learning and our living. Together we shine brightly.

Our Christian ethos, vision and values underpin all of our actions. We believe everyone has limitless potential and that all of our children can flourish if given rich opportunities, experiences, care and guidance. With children who are eager to learn, together with parents and Governors who are supportive, our team of dedicated staff promote an inspirational culture of creativity with high aspirations where there are no barriers to a child’s success. We challenge our children and ourselves to be the best we can be in a safe, rich and purposeful environment, while relishing life and learning at Southborough.

Our school buildings are designed to create a small school feel. We ensure our focus is on recognising each and every child’s uniqueness and individual needs which we achieve by working in close partnership with every family. Our children benefit from the expertise and diversity of a dedicated large staff team and the facilities a 3-form entry school offers.

We have high expectations and relentlessly strive for excellence. We encourage children to take pride in their presentation, environment and learning. We expect children to demonstrate excellent manners and behaviour with respect for others and their environment. Staff work closely together to ensure consistency of these expectations and a shared responsibility for all children regardless of class or year group.

We consider every member of our school community to be a life-long learner and value all contributions to the continued improvements to our school. School initiatives are carefully considered, discussed and research led to ensure we continue to build upon our successes as: “The quality of teaching is the most powerful factor in determining the life chances of children. If we get it right, this can be 20 times more significant than all others.” Sir John Jones.
