The Island Learning Trust are seeking to recruit a passionate Assistant Headteacher to work at Halfway Houses Primary School. We are looking for a leader with integrity, humanity and self-awareness to join our amazing team at Halfway Houses. We require a strong leader who champions children, who recognises the importance of nurturing relationships and who is committed to supporting all members of our community "to be the best they can be". The ideal candidate will have proven experience of supporting teachers to accelerate learning and implement a strong curriculum which leads to improved outcomes. They should be able to demonstrate impact at whole-school level, be able to build strong relationships with families and children and balance nurture with high expectations. They should be a reflective practitioner who is be able to recognise the importance of self-development and is committed to making a difference.

This post is non–class based but will include some teaching duties across the school in order to model high‑quality ‘quality first’ teaching strategies and to support the effective day‑to‑day running of the school. As the school continues to strengthen its teaching and learning provision, there may be some teaching commitment in the future in response to evolving operational needs

The MAT was comprised of Minster Primary and Halfway Houses Primary, both schools are on the Isle of Sheppey, an area of high deprivation and socio economic challenges. These two founding schools are both Ofsted rated good schools. The outcomes at Minster Primary are outstanding. Sunny Bank Primary School in Sittingbourne joined TILT in February 2020 under a sponsorship arrangement and significant all round improvement has been made with the support of the MAT.
