Job Title:  Careers Teacher (CEIAG) and Department Lead
Location:  Heath Farm School, Ashford, TN27 0AX
Hours:  35 per week | Monday to Friday
Salary:  Up to £50,000.00 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract:  Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:  April 2026

About the Role

In this combined leadership and teaching role, you will oversee the school’s Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme while leading high‑quality practice across the secondary phase. You will drive delivery of the Gatsby Benchmarks, build strong external partnerships, support colleagues to improve teaching and learning, and provide excellent pastoral care and classroom instruction. This role blends strategic leadership with hands‑on teaching to ensure all students are well‑supported, inspired, and prepared for their next steps.

Key Responsibilities

CEIAG Leadership

  • Lead the school’s careers programme and ensure compliance with the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Develop and evaluate CEIAG plans, reporting to senior leaders and governors.
  • Track student destinations and maintain accurate careers information on the school website.

Careers Delivery & Coordination

  • Teach careers, PSHE and sixth‑form guidance sessions.
  • Manage work experience for Years 10–13 and coordinate employer encounters.
  • Liaise with subject leaders to embed careers education across the curriculum.

External Links

  • Build partnerships with FE colleges, apprenticeship providers, universities and employers.
  • Manage external careers services and secure funding for careers initiatives.

Secondary Phase Leadership

  • Coach, mentor and support teachers to improve practice and raise achievement.
  • Contribute to school strategic planning and monitor teaching and learning quality.
  • Lead transition arrangements and coordinate trips and enrichment activities.

Pastoral, Behaviour & Safeguarding

  • Serve as a class tutor, delivering RE, PSHE, Skills Builder and wellbeing lessons.
  • Promote positive behaviour and identify students needing additional support.
  • Uphold safeguarding, data protection and school policies.
