Site Manager – Harrietsham CEP School

Are you a practical problem-solver with a toolbelt in one hand and a clipboard in the other? Do you have a knack for fixing things, managing people, and keeping calm when the fire alarm goes off during a downpour? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re on the lookout for a Site Manager who can keep our school safe, secure, and looking its best – all while being friendly, approachable, and ready to chat with everyone from Year R to the Headteacher.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Keeping our buildings and grounds safe, clean and well-maintained (think superhero with a mop and maintenance checklist).

  • Being our go-to keyholder for emergencies and out-of-hours callouts (cape optional).

  • Managing contractors, overseeing repairs, and making sure everything runs like clockwork.

  • Carrying out minor repairs and odd jobs – if you know your way around a toolbox, you’re halfway there.

  • Leading our Assistant Caretaker and ensuring cover across the site.

  • Facilitating lettings and making sure guests feel welcome (and don’t get lost!).

  • Staying on top of health & safety, compliance and stock levels – yes, it’s a juggling act, but we believe in you!

You’ll be great at this job if you:

  • Have exceptional interpersonal skills – you’ll be chatting with staff, students, contractors, and the occasional confused delivery driver.

  • Are hands-on and practical, with a can-do attitude and a good sense of humour.

  • Can think on your feet, stay organised, and remain calm under pressure.

  • Don’t mind the odd early start, late finish, or mysterious noise in the boiler room.

In return, you’ll be joining a supportive team, working in a vibrant school environment where no two days are the same – and yes, you’ll definitely get your steps in!

Working hours are negotiable (37.5 hrs a week total) with a 7am start. This an all year round position.

Interested? We welcome visits to the school - please contact the school office to book in to see us in action (01622 859261). We can’t wait to meet our next school superhero (hi-vis provided).

Our Vision Statement: ‘Nurtured we Flourish’.

We are a warm, welcoming and inclusive school rooted in our rural community. Like the mustard seed, we grew from tiny beginnings and our branches are now spread wide – providing support and taking our values beyond the school gates. All those in our community feel safe and nurtured - able to flourish and grow academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically to achieve their full God-given potential.

Harrietsham Church of England Primary School is a friendly village school set in beautiful countryside in the heart of the community. We pride ourselves on the achievements of all of our pupils - we are a nurturing and inclusive school where everyone works together, putting our children at the heart of everything we do. We welcome pupils and staff of all faiths and none and our vision and values of Love, Forgiveness and Fellowship guide our everyday actions.

Our school building (which dates from 2004) houses well-resourced classrooms, a variety of smaller learning areas and offices, a well-stocked library, an inviting nurture room and a school hall with our own on-site kitchen. We are lucky to be positioned within extensive grounds which give our children access to a forest school, a sports field and a separate playing field and playground.

We have supportive parents and an active Governing Body. We maintain close links with the church and local community.
