Are you an Early Career Teacher ready to begin your teaching journey in a specialist setting where you will be supported, valued and encouraged to grow?

Danecourt School is a specialist provision supporting pupils with additional needs. We are a caring, inclusive school where every child is known, understood and supported to achieve their individual potential. We recognise that progress looks different for every pupil — academic, social and emotional development all matter.

As an ECT at Danecourt, you will join a warm, experienced and highly supportive team committed to your success. You will benefit from a fully structured induction, an experienced SEND mentor, smaller class sizes and collaborative planning opportunities. You will never be expected to “figure it out alone” — specialist education is built on teamwork.

You will be supported to:

  • Develop high-quality adaptive teaching practice

  • Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils and families

  • Understand and deliver EHCP outcomes

  • Embed personalised and inclusive learning approaches

  • Develop confidence in supporting behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Reflect on your practice and grow with purpose

We welcome applications from ECTs who:

  • Hold (or will hold) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Are passionate about inclusive education

  • Are reflective, resilient and emotionally intelligent

  • Believe relationships are central to effective teaching

  • Are eager to develop specialist SEND expertise

You do not need prior specialist experience — what matters most is your mindset, commitment and willingness to learn.

With increasing numbers of pupils requiring specialist provision, SEND teachers are more needed than ever. This role offers long-term career relevance, highly transferable expertise and the opportunity to make a genuine difference every day.

As part of the Maritime Academy Trust, you will benefit from Trust-wide ECT networks, high-quality CPD through our LearnUpon platform, progression opportunities and a strong culture of wellbeing, including an Employee Assistance Programme and Mental Health Champions.

We warmly encourage visits to the school to experience our specialist environment first-hand. Applications should be submitted via My New Term. We may interview and appoint as applications are received, so early applications are encouraged.

Danecourt School and the Maritime Academy Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and pre-employment checks in line with safeguarding guidance.
