Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision is seeking a calm, welcoming and highly organised School Receptionist/ Office administator to be the first point of contact for our school community.

This is a key role within our provision, requiring a professional who understands the importance of creating a safe, supportive and well-managed environment for pupils who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education.

The role
As School Receptionist, you will:

  • Provide a friendly, professional front-of-house service to pupils, staff, parents/carers and visitors

  • Manage incoming calls, emails and visitor sign-in procedures in line with safeguarding requirements

  • Support attendance processes, including daily registers and communication with families

  • Carry out general administrative duties, including record keeping and data entry

  • Work closely with senior leaders and support staff to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the school

The successful candidate will:

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Remain calm, patient and professional in a busy and sometimes challenging environment

  • Be highly organised, with good IT and administrative skills

  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding

  • Ideally have experience working in a school or similar setting (although this is not essential)

Information about the school

The Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision (MMAP) is located approximately 1 mile from the centre of Maidstone and is the hub of the Maidstone and Malling Inclusion Service.

The Provision supports young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties from KS3 to KS4. These students may be at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream setting and the Provision offers outreach, transition and respite support for KS3 students. The placements in KS4 are usually longer term to enable students to complete their qualifications.

Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision is committed to the education and social development of all its students and our broad curriculum provides the opportunities for our students to be successful academically and vocationally.

Our Ofsted inspection in March 2025 was rated Good and we are continuing to develop the quality of learning and our holistic strategies.
