he Role 

We are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant with Catering Responsibilities to join our supportive and dedicated team. This is a unique and rewarding role combining classroom support, 1:1 mentoring, and catering-based provision that forms an important part of our pupils’ educational and pastoral experience. 

You will support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and engagement both in the classroom and through bespoke catering-based activities delivered on a 1:1 or small group basis. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide in-class support under the direction of the class teacher 
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, including acting as a 1:1 mentor 
  • Assist with learning activities, including practical and vocational-style sessions linked to catering 
  • Prepare, set up and deliver bespoke catering provision for individual pupils and small groups 
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised catering area in line with food hygiene and health & safety standards 
  • Support pupils to develop independence, engagement and positive behaviour during catering-based activities 
  • Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and support staff 
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour in line with school policies 

About You 

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or behavioural needs 
  • Is caring, resilient and adaptable, with a calm and positive approach 
  • Communicates with empathy and builds strong, respectful relationships with pupils 
  • Is proactive and committed to making a meaningful difference 
  • Aligns with our values of Compassion, Aspiration, Inspiration, Nurture and Trust 
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS (or is willing to obtain one) 
  • Has Mental Health First Aid training (or a willingness to undertake it) 
  • Is flexible and willing to support pupils during break and lunchtime periods
