Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual looking to make a real difference in a child’s life? The Llewellyn School is a small, specialised setting where every child is seen as an individual. We are looking for an exceptional 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join our close-knit team and provide tailored support to a specific pupil with complex needs.

About the Role

Working in a small SEN (Special Educational Needs) school requires a unique blend of energy, empathy, and resilience. In this role, you will be the primary support for one student, helping them navigate their learning journey and overcome barriers to communication and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personalized Support: Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) tailored to the pupil’s specific learning and behavioral needs.

  • Engagement: Use creative methods (such as sensory play, visual aids, or PECS) to make the curriculum accessible and fun.

  • Wellbeing: Provide emotional and personal care support, ensuring the pupil feels safe and regulated throughout the school day.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Class Teacher, and therapists (Speech & Language, OT) to track progress.

About You

We are looking for someone who "gets" our students. You don't necessarily need a long list of qualifications, but you must have the right heart for the job.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Patient & Resilient: Able to remain calm and supportive during challenging moments.

  • Observant: Quick to pick up on non-verbal cues and "triggers" to provide proactive support.

  • A Team Player: Ready to muck in with the wider school community in our small, friendly environment.

  • Experienced (Preferred): Previous experience working with SEND (Autism, ADHD, PMLD, or SEMH) is a significant advantage.

Why Choose The Llewellyn School?

Because we are a small school, you aren't just a number here; you are a vital part of our family.

  • Small Class Sizes: Enjoy a high staff-to-pupil ratio.

  • Supportive Environment: We prioritise staff wellbeing and provide regular debriefs and peer support.

  • Specialist Training: Gain hands-on experience and training in specific SEND interventions and safeguarding.

Our Performance: We were delighted to receive a rating of ‘Good’ with areas of Outstanding from Ofsted.

Ofsted Report: 'Pupils are proud of their school. Those who met with inspectors were polite, yet mildly mischievous at times, and confident to share their good humour. They told inspectors that there is much they like about the school. One parent said that their child did not really see the point of schools, but that he now comes to this one willingly. A group of older boys talked positively about the chances the school gives them to experience Taekwondo, horse riding and other sporting activities. Pupils shared that they feel safe and free from any form of bullying. They also reflected that, sometimes, some people do not apologise quickly enough when they need to. This is a small school. Leaders and staff know pupils and their families very well. Pupils like this aspect of their school. They respect staff because they feel well cared for. Inspectors found that leaders and staff have appropriately high expectations of what pupils can do and can achieve. As a result, pupils thrive here. They work hard, have fun, and are making good progress in all aspects of their personal, social and academic development.'
