We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our committed team, working specifically to support children with Special Educational Needs. Previous experience of working with children with individual and specific needs would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be someone who is committed to helping all children succeed by providing the emotional and academic support they need to cope with the daily demands of life in school. You will have a strong belief in inclusion and diversity and the right of each child to flourish whatever their needs, abilities and background.

You will be working 1:1 with a child in Key Stage 2, guided by an Education and Health Care Plan, to ensure he receives the best possible support as he prepares to transition to a mainstream secondary school.

The post, which has become available due to the current post holder obtaining a job nearer their home, is temporary until the end of August 2026, with the potential of being extended beyond this period if funding permits.

A level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent will be an advantage. The post might also be valuable experience to someone who is starting their teacher training later this year.

You should be able to maintain positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents and have effective communication skills, both oral and written.

In return we can offer you a warm and welcoming working environment, as part of a friendly and supportive team of dedicated teachers and teaching assistants who work together to ensure our happy and well-behaved children receive the best possible opportunities.

This is a genuinely rewarding opportunity to have a positive impact on a child's final terms at their primary school.

The position will be for 5-days each week, term time only, from 8:30am to 3:30pm.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged and can be arranged upon request. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure. As part of the shortlisting process, the school reserves the right to conduct an online search on shortlisted candidates and any relevant information found concerning a candidate's suitability to work with children will be discussed.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

A copy of our school's Child Protection Policy can be found attached.

This advert is on a rolling basis and may be closed ahead of the advertised date if a suitable candidate is found.
