Priory Infant School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team. This is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young children and helping them thrive—both academically and emotionally—in their earliest years of education.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who will:

  • Support teaching and learning across the classroom

  • Work with individual pupils and small groups, including children with SEND

  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with pupils

  • Help create an engaging, inclusive learning environment

  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to support pupils’ progress and wellbeing

This is a 30-hour-per-week role, term-time only, fixed term until August 2026.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Enjoys working with young children

  • Is patient, positive and adaptable

  • Has good communication and teamwork skills

  • Is willing to learn and take on new challenges

  • Is committed to supporting every child to achieve their best

Experience in a school setting or with SEND is desirable but not essential—we welcome applications from candidates with the right attitude, passion and willingness to learn.

What We Offer:

  • A friendly, supportive team

  • Opportunities for training, including Thrive-related development

  • A nurturing, inclusive school environment

  • Wonderful children who are enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn

We warmly encourage applicant to come and visit Priory Infant School to experience our welcoming atmosphere for themselves.

Priory Infant School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Information about the school

Priory Infant School is a two-form entry school in the heart of the seaside town of Ramsgate. Built 30 years ago, the school features six spacious classrooms and an extension that provides additional SEND and small-group rooms. We are fortunate to have extensive outdoor space, including a dedicated wildlife area with a pond and a thriving vegetable plot.

We are proud to be a school that embraces the Thrive Approach, using it to support the emotional and social development of all our children. This approach underpins our ethos: that every child should feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. Strong partnerships with parents and carers are central to this work and play a vital role in our school community.

Our dedicated team of staff provides a supportive, caring environment where children are encouraged to be independent, resilient, creative, and adventurous in their learning, and aspirational in their lives.

We are committed to offering a broad, exciting curriculum where success is celebrated and children are inspired by experiences that go above and beyond the National Curriculum. Our aim is for every child at Priory to be happy, enthusiastic, and given the very best start to their school journey.

The school serves a mixed catchment area, resulting in a wonderfully diverse cohort. Around 17% of our pupils receive SEND support during their time with us, and approximately 50% are eligible for Pupil Premium funding.

During our most recent visit from HMI in June 2023, it was recognised that “Pupils are happy to come to this friendly school where everyone is made to feel welcome and included.” We encourage you to read our full Ofsted report, available on our school website.

If you are ready to embrace new challenges and are undeterred by hard work, we would love you to join our fantastic team. Priory is a small school with a big heart. The friendly atmosphere here is truly palpable, and we warmly invite you to come and feel it for yourself.
