Leigh Academy Cherry Orchard has a truly fantastic opportunity to appoint a SEN Teacher who will work within the Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) from January 2026. Our SRP, ‘The Oaks’, caters for children with speech, language and/or communication needs (SLCN) and is led by our highly experienced and knowledgeable SEN Lead Teacher.

Our successful candidate will work directly with our SEN Lead to plan a highly differentiated curriculum for both our pupils’ mainstream classes and the Resource Provision. Pupils split their time between their mainstream year group class, where access to the curriculum is applicable and have 1:2 or very small group work when in the Oaks. Cued articulation, visual resources, and signing are used extensively across the academy, in both mainstream and within the provision. Wherever possible, students from the SRP are encouraged to join in all social and whole school activities; such as assemblies, singing practice, play/ lunch times and topic work. The role also entails the completion of provision plans termly, completing the paperwork for annual reviews and carrying out these reviews in a timely manner. A good working knowledge of SEN systems within the local authority is essential.

In return, we will offer you:

  • The opportunity to help shape our future by joining a LAT academy
  • A school community committed to raising achievement and attainment
  • A stunning environment with modern building, excellent resources and facilities
  • A strong commitment to support professional development opportunities
  • A supportive Governing Body and Leadership Team

This is a full-time, permanent position offering MPS, based on experience + London Fringe Allowance + SEN Allowance.
