About the Role;

Aylesford School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Teaching and Learning from January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, forward-thinking leader to play a pivotal role in raising standards, driving innovation, and ensuring the highest quality of classroom practice across the school.

The successful candidate will sit on the Senior Leadership Team and will be central to shaping and delivering our vision for outstanding teaching. You will lead on developing pedagogy, curriculum implementation, and professional development, ensuring that every lesson inspires, challenges, and supports our students to achieve their very best.

The successful candidate will be tenacious, flamboyant and want to share the joy and passion of teaching with everyone; their energy should be infectious, their lessons creative and engaging and should have a Coaching Leadership style to bring the team along with them.

 

Key Responsibilities;

  • Leading whole-school strategy for teaching and learning, ensuring consistent high standards across all subjects.
  • Ensuring Teaching and Learning is at the forefront of everything we do
  • Supporting, coaching, and developing staff at all stages of their careers, including ECTs and aspiring leaders.
  • Driving evidence-informed practice, innovation, and continuous professional development.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of teaching on student progress and outcomes.
  • Contributing fully to school leadership, strategic planning, and whole-school improvement priorities

  • Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with the credibility to model and inspire excellence in teaching.
  • Has a proven track record of improving outcomes through high-quality teaching and learning strategies.
  • Can lead and motivate staff, driving collaboration and professional growth.
  • Has strong communication and organisational skills, with a commitment to inclusive and aspirational education.
  • Is ambitious, resilient, and ready to contribute to the ongoing success of Aylesford School.
