Are you an experienced and enthusiastic early years/KS1 teacher ready to take the next step in your leadership journey? Do you believe that every young child deserves a joyful, safe, and exciting start to their school life? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

We are looking for a dedicated, caring and skilled Assistant Headteacher to join our friendly, hardworking team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our youngest learners - and help shape the future of our school.

At Ellington Infant School, our children are at the heart of everything we do. We are a two-form entry infant school, welcoming children from Reception to Year 2. We pride ourselves on being a nurturing, inclusive and creative school where learning is fun, curiosity is encouraged, and every child is known and valued.

Our staff team is supportive, passionate, and committed to helping every child thrive. As our new Assistant Headteacher, you will work closely with the Headteacher and wider leadership team to support high-quality teaching and learning, strong pastoral care, and an ambitious, child-centred curriculum.

We’re seeking someone who is:

✅ An excellent classroom practitioner, with experience in EYFS and KS1
✅ Passionate about child development and early education
✅ Warm, approachable, and a team player – with a good sense of humour!
✅ Able to support and guide staff through coaching, performance management, and day-to-day leadership
✅ Confident in leading areas such as behaviour, curriculum, and safeguarding (DDSL)
✅ Organised and proactive, with an eye for detail
✅ Willing to roll up their sleeves and provide occasional class cover where needed

In Return, We Offer:

  • A warm, welcoming school community

  • Enthusiastic, kind-hearted children who love to learn

  • A committed and friendly staff team who support one another

  • Opportunities for further leadership development and CPD

  • A real chance to shape the direction of our school as part of a forward-thinking SLT

  • Strong support from governors and families

We’d love you to come and see our school in action! Please contact the school office on 01843 591638 to arrange a visit - we would be proud to show you around.
