Danecourt Primary School Is HiringA Speech and Language Therapy Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist developing a specialism in working with children with complex learning needs. You will play a key role in our in-house therapy team, supporting communication development across the school and helping every pupil find their voice.

You’ll work collaboratively with our Occupational Therapist, Behaviour Specialist, and Therapies Assistant to deliver integrated support within our primary-aged special school. You’ll also liaise with NHS colleagues and partner with our teaching teams to embed communication strategies into everyday learning.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering universal, targeted, and specialist interventions for pupils with diverse communication needs

  • Implementing low, lite, and high-tech AAC solutions as part of a Total (inclusive) Communication approach

  • Supporting a small but growing number of pupils with assessed feeding difficulties (basic dysphagia training essential)

  • Collaborating with staff, families, and external professionals to provide consistent support

  • Delivering training for class teams, parents, and whole-school staff to embed communication strategies

  • Contributing to EHCP reviews and reports to support SEND planning

  • Receiving supervision and peer support from our Highly Specialist SaLT

What We’re Looking For

  • HCPC registered with a recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification
  • Experienced in working with children with complex needs, ideally in special or SEN settings

  • Skilled in using a range of AAC tools and approaches

  • Trained in basic dysphagia management

  • Able to build strong, collaborative relationships with pupils, families, and teams

  • Passionate about inclusion and committed to helping pupils reach their potential
