Pupil Support Manager 

Hours: 37hours per week term time plus two weeks including five INSET days (40 working weeks per year)  

Scale:KSE Actual Salary £24,169 - £25,787 

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Pupil Support Manager due the retirement of the current postholder.  The main aspects of this role include the following:

  • Monitoring and tracking attendance, identifying causes for concern, and working with pupils, parents and external agencies to promote regular attendance 
  • To oversee the co-ordination and admin support of the Annual Review (EHCP) cycle.  To ensure the smooth scheduling of Annual Reviews and completion in line with statutory timelines  
  • To work with our NHS colleagues and families in writing individual Health Care Plans for pupils and requested annual updates 
  • Ensuring the smooth transition of new pupils joining The Beacon 

The successful candidate willjoin our central services team and will need to build relationships and work with external agencies such as KPAS, Local Authority Virtual Schools Teams, Social Workers, NHS and other external school colleagues.  Within The Beacon community you will build strong relationships with all families and carers, class-based staff and our Multi Agency Support Team. 

This role would suit an experienced FLO, SENDCO Assistant or Pastoral Support Assistant. This role is integral to supporting the young people in our community to thrive.

Information about the school

The Beacon is a multi-site, all-age school (4-19 years) offering 430 pupils with complex needs, profound and severe learning difficulties and physical and sensory impairments a wide range of educational experiences. The main site is Park Farm Road, Folkestone however we also have a small 10 place satellite provision hosted by Castle Hill Primary School and our newest provision in Walmer. In addition, Beacon Plus is a collaborative partner of The Beacon School and continues the ethos and culture of high expectations and personalised learning.

The Beacon has a strong cooperative ethos and culture, building on personalised learning to ensure all students thrive within school and beyond. Learning at The Beacon offers a child-centred ‘needs led’ curriculum, which incorporates elements of the EY Foundation Stage, National Curriculum and external accreditation as appropriate, including Life Skills and Social Skills.

We will also continue to provide training and support for mainstream schools through the Specialist Teaching and Learning Service team managed by the school. This team offers support, training, outreach advice and guidance to our mainstream colleagues. In addition, the Beacon has both conference and meeting facilities and regularly hosts nationally renowned speakers on its courses.

The Beacon also hosts a Multi-Agency Support Hub. This is one of four centres across the County that brings NHS colleagues, paediatricians, speech and occupational therapists, and nursing services, alongside children’s social services and portage colleagues into one cohesive centre. We are proud of the strong partnerships this brings to benefit the children and families of Shepway.
