Advert

Bodsham Primary School is looking to appoint a Caretaker.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a dedicated and organised person to join the team to look after our small, beautiful rural school. Our current caretaker is retiring after many happy years and wishes to handover the responsibility for maintaining the school to the right person.

The ideal candidate will be practical and able to work independently using their own initiative and will be a vital part of the team. They will have responsibility for the maintenance of the school site and have a good range of skills for general repairs, cleaning and decorating.

The successful candidate will work 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 3pm to 6pm each day although we would be happy to discuss some flexibility; this contract is for 52 weeks per year.

 What will you be doing?

We’re looking for someone who will care for our school environment, who will:-

  • Clean the school, helping to keep our indoor and outdoor spaces looking tidy and presentable
  • Carry out regular safety checks
  • Keep basic maintenance records
  • Be a keyholder

This is a vital role for our children, to ensure that they have a warm, safe and dry environment to learn in which is crucial to their successful education.

Information about the school

Bodsham School is set in the heart of the beautiful Kentish countryside and is Federated with Saltwood Church of England Primary school outside Hythe. There are 78 pupils on roll arranged in four classes. Year R are taught separately and there are mixed age classes from Year 1 to Year 6. The Christian ethos is central to the running of the school and there is strong support from our community of parents and carers, as reflected in our Ofsted Inspection in June 2022 which described the school as being Outstanding in the EYFS, Behaviour and Personal Development

Children receive a rich and varied education in our lovely grounds and we use the school minibus to help children experience trips to local sites of interest. Numbers of pupils on the special needs register and receiving free school meals are below the national average.

All staff at Bodsham CEP benefit from our Federation with Saltwood CEP by sharing staff development events, having regular opportunities for collaboration in areas such as moderation and planning and accessing the support and resources a larger school can provide.
