Special Educational Needs Support Assistant (SENSA)

 Grade KS B (FTE £25,126) £13.02 per hour

 17.5 hrs per week (mornings only)

 Temporary, 1 year contract, term time

 Start Date: 1st September 2025

We are seeking a motivated and nurturing Special Educational Needs Support Assistant (SENSA) to join the team at DEALT Academy Trust. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with special educational needs and/or medical conditions in a setting committed to high-quality inclusive education.

 As part of the Deal Education Alliance for Learning Trust (DEALT)—a collaborative family of primary schools—you will help deliver targeted support that reflects both the Kent Mainstream Core Standards (KMCS) and DEALT’s vision of excellence, opportunity, and care for all pupils.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • You will play an essential role in helping your school meet the expectations of the Kent Mainstream Core Standards and the schools individual SEND offer, ensuring:
  • Wellbeing and participation are central to the pupil experience.
  • Barriers to learning are identified and effectively addressed
  • Provide individual support as and when required and small group classroom support to children with a range of SEND, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties, sensory processing issues, and social-emotional needs.

Information about the school

Northbourne CEP School is a rural, five class primary school, located within the beautiful countryside near Northbourne village and a short 5 minute drive from the towns of Deal and Sandwich. We are a happy and vibrant school looking to add to our team.

Our traditional Victorian building has been thoughtfully extended to accommodate a modern Early Years classroom and 4 further mixed-age classrooms. We have extensive grounds which accommodate our large sports field, adventure play area, wild meadow and orchard, spiritual garden, allotments and greenhouses, chicken coop and honey bee hives, plus our established and hugely popular Forest School.

Northbourne is proud to be a Church of England Primary School. We currently have an Outstanding grading for SIAMS which reflects our strong Christian ethos and the links we have with our local churches. Northbourne was graded Good by OFSTED in July 2023.

At Northbourne we pride ourselves on our strong sense of community and family. We have close links with St Augustine's Church in Northbourne village and also work closely alongside our local Deal primary schools. Northbourne CEP School is a founding Academy member of the Deal Education Alliance for Learning Trust (DEALT) which is a MAT of eight local primary schools within Deal and the surrounding villages. This unique and exciting collaboration of local schools work together to ensure the very best outcomes for all pupils and their families within our town.
