Location: Joy Lane Primary Foundation School, Whitstable
Contract: Fixed-Term 1 year with a view to extend.
Hours:  Full-time, 37 hrs per week, all year round.
Holiday entitlement: 28 days
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 FTE (pro‑rata if part-time)

We’re seeking a friendly, reliable, proactive, and hands-on Caretaker to join our team. You'll play a key role in ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and smooth operation of our school premises.

What You'll Be Doing

We’re looking for someone who cares as much as we do about our school environment. You’ll:

  • Open and close school buildings, and keep everything secure
  • Do regular safety checks (alarms, lights, heating)
  • Carry out small repairs (plumbing, carpentry, painting)
  • Help keep indoor and outdoor spaces looking tidy and presentable
  • Set up for events, clubs, lunchtime and assemblies
  • Coordinate with contractors and receive deliveries
  • Keep basic maintenance records

Joy Lane Foundation Primary School includes a PVI Nursery and a Special Resourced Provision (ASD) which is set in beautiful, extensive grounds near to Whitstable beach and town centre. We have just over 700 children attending our Nursery, Oysters SRP and twenty one mainstream school learning environments; the School also benefits from its wonderful swimming pool and Forest School. We are a supportive collaborative team which is committed to promoting a love of learning, for life, for the whole community. Our strong and inclusive ethos begins with the belief that everyone can succeed and combines positive personal values with the highest academic achievement.
