Are you an enthusiastic and creative Learning Support Assistant? Are you passionate about children’s well-being and mental health?

Long Mead Community Primary School is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all children. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team and work with children who need support in and outside of the classroom. We are looking for someone who has experience working with children with SEND and behavioural needs.

The post could be part time or full time, term time only (within the hours of 08:30 - 15:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:30 - 13:30 Friday) on a fixed term contract, initially for a year.

The salary is KS B. Full time equivalent salary £ £25,126 (per annum pro rata)

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' behavioural, emotional, academic and social development. Previous experience working with students with SEN is desirable as is strong skills in managing and responding to a variety of student behaviours effectively and empathetically. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents is essential.

Key responsibilities:

Working as part of a team to support academic achievement: supporting children to access lessons and activities set, adapting and developing the planning to the needs of the children.

Working as part of a team to respond to behaviour: addressing and managing behaviour in a positive and constructive manner using a range of techniques, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

Information about the school

Long Mead Community Primary School is situated in Tonbridge. Its attractive site has a large playing field and playgrounds and is surrounded by woodlands yet close to the town. Forest School Studies are offered on site as part of our curriculum using our wonderful grounds and our own trained member of staff.

We have one of the few integral nursery schools in Kent enabling all children to benefit by being part of the school community from the age of two. Our classrooms are large and airy and we have a dedicated art room, music room, science lab and well stocked library, as well as several breakout spaces for small group work. The school is very proud of its attitude to sports and being physically active. We start each day with the daily mile and actively engages in many tournaments and festivals.
