Are you passionate about supporting children and families to overcome barriers to school attendance?  Do you have the drive, empathy, and professionalism to make a real difference across a group of inclusive and ambitious schools? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

Maritime Academy Trust is seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to work across our Medway Hub of schools: Barnsole, Bligh, Danecourt, Featherby Infants and Featherby Juniors. About the Role

You will play a key part in promoting excellent attendance across our schools. Working closely with Headteachers, Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), and other key staff, you will help identify patterns of absence, put targeted interventions in place, and engage directly with families to address barriers.

This is a varied and rewarding role involving school-based monitoring, formal correspondence, home visits, multi-agency working, and attendance at legal proceedings. You will also contribute to safeguarding meetings and provide strategic insight to leaders on how to improve attendance in line with national expectations.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in education or child welfare, with a strong understanding of attendance and safeguarding
  • Professional and proactive, able to manage sensitive situations with empathy and confidence
  • A great communicator, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working across multiple sites and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Confident with data, systems, and report writing
  • A qualified DSL (or willing to train)
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.

What We Offer

At Maritime, we do things differently. We are a Trust with a friendly, collaborative culture, and a commitment to helping all children succeed. When you join us, you’ll be part of a supportive team where your contribution is valued and your career development is taken seriously.

As a Maritime employee, you will benefit from:

  • A flexible and supportive working environment
  • Tailored induction and training programmes
  • Opportunities for cross-Hub and Trust-wide collaboration
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Membership of a forward-thinking and values-driven trust
