Are you a passionate and creative Food Technology teacher looking to inspire the next generation of cooks, chefs, and food scientists?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join our vibrant Design & Technology faculty. You will play a vital role in delivering engaging, practical lessons that promote healthy living, culinary skills, and a strong understanding of nutrition and food science.

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and KS5 if applicable).
  • Inspire students with creative, hands-on learning experiences in a well-equipped food room.
  • Support students of all abilities to develop confidence and practical life skills.
  • Prepare students for assessments and qualifications such as GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and engaging learning environment.Contribute to wider school life, including food-related clubs, events, and enrichment activities.

About You:

  • Unqaulified or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialism in Food Technology or related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a love for cooking, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A creative and student-centred approach to teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and the wider school ethos.

Based in the heart of the historic City of Canterbury, The Canterbury Academy Trust came into existence in October 2010 when schools judged by Ofsted to be ‘outstanding’ were allowed to convert to academy status, benefit from greater freedoms and shape their futures.

Since then The Canterbury Academy Trust has grown and it now provides a variety of services ‘to improve the life chances of children and to help in the community’. These include: City View Pre-School and Nurseries Ltd; a newly built and expanded two form of entry The Canterbury Primary School; a Specialist Resourced Based Provision for primary ASD pupils; The Canterbury Academy, which has expanded to take an additional form of entry; a Specialist Resourced Based Provision for secondary Speech and Language students; The Cullum Centre, in partnership with The National Autistic Society; The Sixth Form, Enterprise and Employability Centre, which includes one of the largest Sixth Forms in Kent; The Canterbury Youth Commission, The Ashford Youth Commission, and area wide Inclusion and Engagement Service and Professional Learning and Community Centre with café.
