The Downs Church of England Primary School and Walmer Parish Churches are seeking to employ a motivated, flexible, sociable yet professional person to join our teams.

This new and exciting role has been developed by school and Church leaders. The contract will initially run for two years when a successful review could lead to a permanent role.

Start date: 1st September 2025

Pay scale: KSC 0.5 FTE £25,252 (actual Salary £10,674, 18.5hrs per week)

Part time: 2.5 days per week term time only (flexible working days/hours – could include some weekend and evenings)

Job description:

  • Liaise directly with school and church line managers and allow our partnership to flourish
  • Be responsible for the organisation of events and activities including managing a small budget and producing risk assessments
  • Form good professional relationships with local groups and charities and be confident in supporting parental engagement
  • The ability to forge links within the community that will enhance awareness of the worlds, moments bigger than me and ultimately develop spirituality

Essential qualifications:

  • Experience of working with children
  • Have experience of working with parents to support their children
  • Have an awareness of how a primary school functions on a day to day basis
  • An understanding of the community we serve
  • Good levels of literacy and computing (GCSE C/5 or above in literacy)

  • A belief in the Christian faith and an ability to uphold key Christian values
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Have compassion and empathy without judgement
  • Be open, honest and trustworthy

About us:

The Downs CEP School is located in Kent in the UK. We have wonderful children and a fantastic team of staff who all work together to try and make learning fun!

We are very lucky to have lots of fantastic facilities for our children, including unique learning opportunities through our ‘enhanced curriculum’.

Children can explore the different areas within the school, harvest crops from the allotment, look after the animals or spend time at the wildlife pond.

In April 2019, The Downs CEP School became a founding member of the Deal Education Learning Alliance Trust (DEALT) which is a MAT comprised of eight local primary schools within Deal and the surrounding villages.
