We are looking for a caring and friendly 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with two different children across the week. Previous working with young SEN pupils would be an advantage but is not essential. On Monday and Tuesday the successful applicant will work with a KS1 child in our school who has significant communication needs as well as autism. The child presently works within a year 1 class but also accesses the Early Years learning environment, this is currently under review for September. The 1:1 support will facilitate the pupil's learning and will be guided by the class teacher to give the best opportunities for success. On a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the successful applicant will work with a different child, also in KS1, who has significant physical and medical needs. This child requires a high level of care and has an EHCP to help guide this. She is able to access the curriculum within her own year group. Both are delightful individuals and neither present with challenging behaviours. The successful applicant will be working within supportive class teams to assist the individuals on their academic journey.

This role would suit an enthusiastic applicant who is willing to learn and keen to take on this responsibility as well as somebody with school based experience, particularly working with children with special educational needs. However, primarily we are looking for someone with a kind, patient and empathetic nature, as well as someone who is able to work with others in our small and friendly school. Teamwork and collaborative working is crucial to our school’s success as is initiative and a desire for each pupil to achieve the best they can.
